Do you want to be part of the youth council?

Are you between 13-25 years old and living or active within Torsby Municipality?
In that case you are welcome to participate in the Youth Council. The goal of Torsby´s Youth Council is to encourage young people in the whole municipality to participate and become influential in matters concerning youth. If you don´t speak up for yourself who else will? Be a part of creating activities — we are here for our own benefit.
We want to create a positive attitude in Torsby with a network of young people from the whole of our large municipality, function as a link between politicians and young people, help with financing of youth projects and create leisure-time activities.
The Youth Council usually has representatives who participate in the Swedish Youth Parliament and in youth conferences. They have also been stewards and officials at events such as the UKM (Young Culture Meet), disco 56 and the Walpurgis Night celebrations at Kollsberg.

The youth fund can support good ideas
Do you have a good idea that you want to realize? Something that would be fun for you, your friends and other youth in your neighbourhood? Is lack of money holding you back?
Torsby Youth Council has at its disposal 75,000 crowns per year in the Youth Fund. This money is apportioned out to youth projects in the municipality by the Youth Council.
In 2010 the Council has made financial contributions to such diverse things as a youth café, project to work against mobbing, Östmark leisure centre, the Stjerne School Cabaré and the Fun Park at Valberget.

Guidelines for the youth fund
Ø  Each application shall be judged individually.
Ø  The activity or project shall not have commercial goals or be eligible for funding according to prevailing rules for funding from the Recreation Committee or the Culture Committee.
Ø  Contributions from the fund shall stimulate new projects and ideas that give a meaningful leisure activity to as many people in TorsbyMunicipality as possible.
Ø  We do not normally make contributions to school class trips.
