Like many other municipalities outside of regions with large cities our population has decreased during recent years. The decrease can largely be attributed to the fact that among residents there have been fewer births than deaths. But the decrease is also due to the fact that more people have moved away than have moved in.

Housing

There is a wide variety of housing available: private homes, rural houses and cottages, and apartments and flats. 75% of our residents live in single-family homes and 25% in flats. Many people have vacation homes and cottages in the municipality because of the nearness to nature and the recreational possibilities during both summer and winter. Real estate prices are much lower than in areas near large cities. There are no high-rise buildings here but little else is lacking.

Many residents live in tenant-owned housing, but there are many houses and apartments for rent by the month, and many of these have their own gardens.
Torsby Bostäder AB is the Municipality Housing Company and can be reached at telephone number 0560-27240. There are also around 15 private landlords and three tenant-owned housing associations. Call for more information on tel. 0560-16064 (for Torsby) and 0560-16632 (for Sysslebäck).
