If, due to illness or mental impairment, persons need help in safeguarding their rights, their property or their well being, the courts can appoint a guardian. If there is a need, a trustee can be appointed.
Torsby Municipality has a Chief Guardian Council that controls the activities of the appointed guardians and will appoint a special supervisor at the Social Services Council to handle practical issues concerning guardians. The office is located at the Sysslebäck Community Centre since October 2009. There is also the possibility for pre-reserved counselling at the Centre in Torsby.
